Privacy Policy

Last updated 9 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Ink Atlas collects, why, and who it is shared with. The service is operated by Aria Codeworks Ventures, who is responsible for your data. Contact: hello.codaria@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • From Google when you sign in: your name, email address and profile picture. We never see your Google password.
  • What you tell us: pen name, bio, date of birth, favourite genres, your choice to show mature books, and an optional profile picture.
  • What you write: books, descriptions, cover images and chapters you create. While you write, a private draft of the chapter is backed up to your account, and each time you save we keep the previous version (the last 20) so you can look back. We also count the words you add each day, to show you your writing streak.
  • How you use the service: books you save, books you open, reports you send, and a daily count of your AI assistant requests.
  • AI assistant (Quill) questions: the messages you type to the assistant and Quill's replies. Your latest conversation (up to 40 messages) is saved to your account so it is there on every device you sign in on; starting a new chat, or deleting your account, removes it. If you tap a thumbs up or down on a reply, we keep that rating together with your question and the start of the reply, so we can see where Quill needs to improve.
  • Location (only if you allow it): when you use "find nearby bookstores", your browser asks for permission and we use your approximate coordinates to look up places. We do not store them.
  • Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) kept by our hosting providers.

Why we use it

  • To run your account and let you read, save and publish books.
  • To show age-appropriate content. Your date of birth is used only for this and to confirm the minimum age; once saved it can't be edited.
  • To answer your questions in the AI assistant.
  • To keep the service safe: handling reports, preventing abuse and rate-limiting.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

Who it is shared with

We use these providers to run the service:

  • Google, for sign-in.
  • Vercel, to host the application.
  • Supabase, to store our database.
  • UploadThing, to store images you upload.
  • Anthropic, which processes your AI assistant questions and the book information needed to answer them, reads the text of books authors publish as part of our automated content check, looks at each profile picture and cover you upload to check it is suitable, and reads text you ask it to proofread.
  • OpenStreetMap (Overpass and Nominatim), which receive the coordinates used to find nearby bookstores and the shop names you type when you add a bookstore. If you paste a Google Maps link when adding a bookstore, our server opens that link to read the shop's position.
  • Resend, which delivers emails to our moderators. These emails do not include the reporting reader's identity.
  • DiceBear, if you choose a generated avatar; the avatar is created from a random seed, not your personal data.

Some of these providers are located outside your country. Where we transfer data internationally we rely on the safeguards those providers offer. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect people from serious harm.

What other users see

Your pen name, bio and profile picture, and the books you publish, are visible to other people. Your email address and date of birth are not. Reports are confidential: authors are not told who reported them.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account we delete your profile, library and books, except where we must keep something for legal reasons (for example records of a moderation decision). Backups expire on their normal cycle.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to hello.codaria@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. You can change your profile and mature-content setting in the app.

Children

Ink Atlas is not for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13 we will delete it. Readers aged 13 to 17 only see books rated for general and teen audiences.

Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections, access controls and server-side checks on every action. No service is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Tell us at hello.codaria@gmail.com if you find a vulnerability.

Changes

If we change this policy in a material way we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept it again where required.
